2-1-1/Community Information Exchange (CIE) San Diego is one of seven mentors helping communities across the country build local capacity
San Diego – In March, 2-1-1/CIE San Diego was selected by Data Across Sectors for Health (DASH), a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, as one of seven national organizations to mentor communities across the country and help them improve health through local data sharing. 2-1-1/CIE San Diego connects with communities from around the country through All In: Data for Community Health, a peer-to-peer learning network that builds local capacity to combine health data with data from other sectors such as education, social services, and housing to create a more complete picture of the factors that influence health.
2-1-1/CIE San Diego has been recognized as a national leader for its success in creating and launching the Community Information Exchange (CIE), which uses shared data, common language, and technology to unite providers across sectors. CIE ultimately enables providers to shift away from reactive approaches and toward proactive, holistic, person-centered care.
“We’re so grateful for the opportunity to support communities adopting the CIE model and we’re excited to see the CIE movement continue to grow and expand to other parts of the nation,” said William York, President & CEO, at 2-1-1/CIE San Diego.
“Many of these communities are directly responding to COVID-19, so we incorporated best practices from San Diego’s COVID-19 response into the curriculum of our mentorship. As a collaborative, we’re also exploring how we can reduce systemic racial inequities, which we know contribute to the health and well-being of individuals and entire communities,” followed Karis Grounds, Vice President of Health and Community Impact at 2-1-1/CIE San Diego who oversees and leads the local and national CIE initiatives.
