Learn where we have been and where we are going.

On June 7-8, 2025 over 400 attendees joined us for a virtual event designed to examine specific Community Information Exchange^® (CIE) use cases, examples, and workflows. Presentations highlighted CIE San Diego and other CIE-like community developments, frameworks, and lessons learned in shared governance, stakeholder engagement, legal frameworks and consent, bidirectional close-looped referrals, technical infrastructure (including technology and data integration), shared language, community care planning, and sustainability frameworks. Conference sessions incorporated practical, applied use cases and highlighted the successful and challenging aspects of developing a CIE.

211 San Diego's Community Information Exchange sets a critical precedent for the field of health, human, and social services: open access infrastructure that can transform our safety net, by centering the perspectives of those who have most at stake. This conference is a terrific opportunity to dream together about a better future.

I attend a lot of conferences, and over the last three years, the one that gives me ideas and information that I can use on the problems I am dealing with right now is the CIE Summit.

The shift to a virtual CIE San Diego Summit was a bright spot for me in a difficult pandemic year. I knew our small nonprofit couldn't afford the travel expenses for an in-person event, but I jumped at the opportunity for remote participation and was thrilled with the learning and discussions. They continue to impact my thinking and actions. I am happy that this year's Summit is also virtual, and hope that going forward we can retain this option, though I would love to meet in person when we can gather again.

As conversations around health equity and social determinants of health are becoming more mainstream, convening stakeholders across sectors around data sharing has never been more important. We at the Camden Coalition know from our own experiences that data sharing and collaboration are key to providing person-centered care that addresses barriers to good health and well-being. The San Diego CIE Summit is an excellent opportunity for those engaged in this work to find support, community, expertise, and new ideas in creating true community care planning models.
